Sustainable Compass is a digital ESG navigator presented at the Business in People forum

On September 16, 2025, Moscow hosted the forum “It’s about People: a Space for Sustainable Solutions”, a key platform about ESG, people and companies. The event brought together about 450 participants and representatives of more than 200 companies. More than 60 speakers took part in the forum, and the coverage of publications about the forum in the media and social networks exceeded 2.4 million views. The best ESG practices, the creation of collaborations, the role of technology, the development of regions and the launch of new projects were discussed at the site. The organizers emphasized that the forum is not only about knowledge, but also about concrete solutions, contacts and actions for sustainable business.
One of the highlights of the forum was the presentation of the Sustainable Compass digital consulting platform (https://compass.gpi.kz /). The project was presented by GPI Project manager Azat Seitanov:

“Why are companies waiting for such solutions?

The thesis is increasingly being heard in business communities: traditional consulting ceases to satisfy business needs. Many companies have established ESG departments, but they face a variety of standards that are difficult to interpret. Businesses depend on external consultants with full knowledge of ESG, but entrepreneurs want mobility and autonomy in decision-making. Companies need a simple tool that would allow them to independently improve their ESG activities without being completely dependent on consultants. This reflects a general trend – the world is moving away from template consulting services towards digital, localized and integrated solutions.”

The developers emphasize that Sustainable Compass is an “ESG digital navigator”: a tool that automates routine processes, makes consulting accessible and effective, and provides personalized recommendations. The platform is positioned as the first comprehensive Kazakhstani IT solution that allows for comprehensive ESG support.

Azat Seitanov told his Moscow colleagues that GPI is known for its involvement in environmental and social projects. One of them is the Smart Plastic Zone, a joint initiative with Green Urban and Coca Cola Kazakhstan. The project aims to reduce plastic pollution and encourages organizations that switch to alternative materials, introduce separate collection and transfer of plastic for recycling.

The creators of Sustainable Compass emphasize that the platform will be integrated with the company’s successful ESG initiatives. For example, the Showcase of Sustainable Technologies module will allow SPZ participants to demonstrate their solutions, and the analytical unit will collect and process data on plastic use, which will then be transmitted to the Ministry of Ecology.

Why should companies join Sustainable Compass?

Thanks to online diagnostics, an educational module and a marketplace of sustainable solutions, the platform allows:

• Receive an independent assessment of ESG compliance with standards and immediately see the recommended steps.;
• train the team in modern sustainable development practices;
• find technologies, partners and suppliers for the implementation of green projects;
• generate and publish non-financial reports;
• Participate in ratings and compare yourself with industry leaders.

A look into the future
The Sustainable Compass platform does not replace experts, but creates a digital environment where experts, business and government interact more effectively. This is in line with the spirit of the It’s about People forum — not just discussing ESG, but launching real projects and looking for partners to scale them up. Azat Seitanov stressed that the company is open to cooperation with public and private structures and invites enterprises to undergo ESG diagnostics on the website. compass.gpi.kz and join the ecosystem of the platform.
