GPI at China Conference: Central Asia 2026

On September 7, Astana hosted China Conference: Central Asia 2026, organized by the South China Morning Post in partnership with the Astana International Financial Centre, marking the first time the conference has been held in Central Asia.

GPI employees joined the business program, which brought together representatives of government institutions, business, investment, and technology communities. Discussions focused on the region’s macroeconomic outlook, capital attraction, natural resources, transport connectivity, and prospects for cooperation with China.

Particular attention was given to the digital economy, including infrastructure development, artificial intelligence, financial technologies, and their application across different industries. This area was of particular interest to GPI, as projects from Kazakhstan and China were presented at the conference, providing an opportunity to explore new approaches and expand professional connections within the international business community.

Among the conference speakers was Liu Liqiang, Chairman of Jiaxin International Resources Investment Limited, who spoke about Kazakhstan’s investment environment and the company’s experience in the mining sector. Thomas G. Tsao, Co-Founder of Gobi Partners, highlighted the role of Kazakhstan’s younger generation in shaping new business and technology links across the region.

For GPI, the conference also provided an additional opportunity to present the Sustainable Compass platform during informal discussions, including its China Export Readiness assessment, which attracted particular interest from participants. The marketplace of sustainable IT solutions also drew attention by bringing together technology solutions designed to address business ESG challenges and creating additional opportunities for their promotion and partnership development.
