Smart Plastic Zone 2025 Project Results Announced and Participants Awarded

The Council for Sustainable Development and ESG hosted the final awards ceremony for participants of the Smart Plastic Zone project for 2025.

The ceremony brought together 12 participating organizations that demonstrated best practices in responsible plastic management and the implementation of ESG approaches in their operations.

The highest-level distinction — Smart Plastic Zone Platinum — was awarded to the Baiterek Holding and KEGOC JSC.

KEGOC JSC submitted applications for participation from all of its branches. Based on the review of the submissions and the assessment of the practices implemented, all of the company’s main electrical substations (MES) were awarded the Smart Plastic Zone Gold badge. Receiving these awards reflects a high level of management of the company’s plastic footprint, a systematic approach to implementing environmentally friendly solutions, and consistent work to raise environmental awareness among employees. KEGOC JSC’s participation in the Smart Plastic Zone project confirms its commitment to the principles of sustainable development and to environmental responsibility.

Baiterek Holding, which introduced the Smart Plastic Zone assessment procedure across its subsidiaries, was also awarded the highest status — the Platinum badge. The Holding’s subsidiaries (DAMU Entrepreneurship Development Fund JSC, Otbasy Bank Housing Construction Savings Bank JSC, Agrarian Credit Corporation JSC, Kazakhstan Export Credit Agency JSC, Qazaqstan Investment Corporation JSC, and Kazakhstan Housing Company JSC) received the Gold badge, confirming a unified and systematic approach to ESG initiatives. Receiving the platinum badge cements Baiterek Holding’s status as a leader in environmental innovation and serves as a benchmark for other organizations striving for sustainable development.

Smart Plastic Zone Gold badges were also awarded to other major companies and organizations that demonstrated leadership in sustainable development and environmental responsibility, including: Abu Dhabi Plaza IFC, KTZ Express JSC, and the Organizing Committee of the RES 2026 EXPO international exhibition.

A Smart Plastic Zone Silver badge was presented to the kindergarten of Astron Group LLP.

As of today, 75 organizations representing various sectors of the economy and social sphere have joined the Smart Plastic Zone project. The project has covered 10 regions of Kazakhstan: the cities of Almaty, Astana, Pavlodar and Aktobe, as well as the Akmola, Karaganda, Zhambyl, North Kazakhstan, East Kazakhstan and Kostanay regions. The total area of the facilities included in the project has exceeded 5.6 million square meters.
