As part of the Digital Almaty forum — which has become a traditional platform for discussing digitalization trends and projects — an expert discussion was held on digital solutions for ESG transformation.
The event was organized by the company MOST.

Yuliya Yakupbayeva, Partner at GPI Group, Chairperson of the Sustainable Development and ESG Council of the “Atameken” National Chamber of Entrepreneurs, and Board Member of the TechnoWomen NGO, presented her vision for integrating ESG principles into the operations of IT companies.
“Whereas last year Gartner included sustainable technology among its top 10 trends, in 2024 it is already speaking of the defining role of this component within its other trends, on par with generative AI,” noted Yuliya Yakupbayeva.
The speaker also emphasized the importance of sustainable development for modern IT companies, pointing to specific ESG criteria that sustainable companies may soon require from their suppliers as part of implementing green supply chains.

“Sustainable technologies support the sustainable development of your company and your clients. According to IDC estimates, by the end of 2025, 80% of companies will include ESG metric implementation results in their KPIs and track them in real time,” concludedYuliya Yakupbayeva.
The GPI partner also emphasized that sustainable solutions can advance any of the ESG metrics. She was supported by the session moderator, Andrey Beklemishev, who noted that an entire ecosystem of IT solutions already exists behind each area of the global ESG agenda.

Recognizing the importance of this topic for the IT sector, speakers proposed developing recommendations to encourage the IT sector’s engagement with ESG. This initiative was met with support from colleagues and highlighted as an important step toward building a stable future for the IT industry. The recommendations will also be considered by the Sustainable Development and ESG Council of “Atameken.”
The Digital Almaty forum once again confirmed its role as a platform for exchanging knowledge and experience among leading specialists in technology and sustainable development, setting the direction for future ESG initiatives.
