Alena Romanova, Executive Director of GPI Lab, delivered a welcoming address at the international round table “UN Sustainable Development Goals: Principles of Environmental Safety.” The event was held at Satbayev University in Almaty. Other participants included representatives of the Committee for Higher and Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, representatives of the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office in Kazakhstan, the Head of the UNEP Sub-regional Office for Central Asia, the Consul of the People’s Republic of China in Almaty, representatives of public organizations, and industry experts in science and education.

Welcoming participants, Romanova noted that increased interest in the practical implementation of the SDGs and ESG principles in company operations is now visible not only at the government level but also across market sectors. In this regard, the education sector plays a key role in shifting public consciousness, training specialists, and serving as a benchmark for SDG and ESG principles.
“As ESG consultants, we are already implementing ESG projects in the education sector. Educational institutions are actively transforming their operations: greening buildings and campuses to obtain relevant international certification, revising curricula and programs, introducing new disciplines into the educational process, and developing and implementing ESG strategies,” shared Alena, drawing on practical experience.
She concluded by noting that the GPI Group of Companies, with its practical experience and expertise in ESG consulting, is ready to support the implementation of the SDGs and looks forward to cooperation and joint projects.
