Green Urban Association and Almaty SPC JSC Sign Memorandum of Cooperation at the Smart Plastic Zone Event

On May 2, 2025, the Green Urban Association and the Social and Entrepreneurial Corporation “Almaty” JSC (Almaty SPC) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation aimed at developing a sustainable urban environment and promoting environmentally oriented initiatives in Almaty.

The parties agreed on a strategic partnership in the field of implementing environmentally friendly and energy-efficient solutions, as well as exchanging best practices and knowledge in the field of sustainable development. The memorandum provides for joint work on developing green standards and regional ESG ratings, supporting sustainable tourism, education, and sports projects, and promoting the Smart City and Urban Health concepts.

The parties also intend to participate in developing proposals for improving the regulatory framework and to actively engage in educational events, seminars, and training sessions aimed at raising awareness of sustainable development principles.

“We consistently support projects that contribute to the harmonious development of cities. We are glad to join forces with Almaty SPC and, together, to promote practices aimed at sustainability and the well-being of Almaty’s residents,” commented Yuliya Yakupbayeva, Chairperson of the Council of the Green Urban Association.

“This document is not a formality. It serves as the foundation for new initiatives in Almaty’s sustainable development. By signing it, we confirm our commitment to the green agenda, sustainable practices, and strengthening partnerships that improve quality of life in the city. We are confident that this cooperation will become the basis for new initiatives and will inspire other organizations to take similar steps,” noted Zoya Kassenova, Deputy Chairperson of the Management Board of Almaty SPC.

The signing of the memorandum was an important step toward a sustainable future for the city of Almaty and demonstrates the readiness of business, society, and government to join forces in addressing environmental and social challenges.
