Sustainable Compass – a new Kazakhstani digital tool for free ESG diagnostics of SMEs.

In the context of the global trend toward sustainable development and corporate responsibility, the Kazakhstani consulting company GPI announces the launch of the first domestic digital ESG platform — Sustainable Compass. The solution is aimed at medium-sized businesses that strive to increase their investment attractiveness, comply with international standards, and prepare for the new reality of the global market.

What does Sustainable Compass offer?

Sustainable Compass is a digital ecosystem that allows companies to undergo online diagnostics, determine their level of ESG maturity, receive recommendations for improvement, and prepare for international reporting.

The first stage is an express ESG-diagnosis — a quick and free check that takes no more than 30–50 minutes. As a result, the user receives:

  • a personalized ESG profile of the company,
  • a brief analysis of strengths and weaknesses,
  • recommendations for further steps,
  • and the opportunity to proceed to more in-depth comprehensive diagnostics.

“Our goal is to make ESG clear and accessible even for small and medium-sized businesses. We see high interest from Kazakhstani companies, but many have not yet begun implementation simply because they did not understand where to start. We provide this first step — clear, free, and offering concrete recommendations,” commented Rustam Yakupbayev, founder of the GPI group of companies, member of the IT CEO Club Council.

Advantages of the platform:

  • Fully automated diagnostics of ESG metrics without the need to involve consultants;
  • Localized content adapted to the requirements of Kazakhstani regulators;
  • Direct access to reports and recommendations that can be used for internal and external purposes;
  • Future ability to generate ESG reporting in accordance with international standards (GRI, IFRS, etc.).

Who is suited to be in  the Sustainable Compass?

  • Medium-sized businesses that want to start their sustainability journey, enter export markets, or attract green financing.
  • Companies building their green supply chains or wishing to integrate into the green supply chains of international players.
  • Large companies preparing ESG reporting.
  • Sustainability departments within companies that want to set priorities in their work.

“We are building not just a platform — we are creating a digital infrastructure for sustainable business development in Kazakhstan and the MENA region. This year we are starting cooperation with several marketplaces and industry associations to make ESG part of everyday business practice. We are open to collaboration and partnerships,” added Dalila Elzhanova, Director of New Products at GPI-Lab.

What is ESG and why does business need it?

ESG is an international approach to evaluating companies’ activities in terms of Environmental, Social, and Governance factors. Unlike traditional financial analysis, the ESG approach allows investors, partners, and regulators to understand how sustainable, transparent, and future-ready a business is.

For business, ESG means:

  • Reputational advantages and trust from clients and employees;
  • Understanding and minimizing ESG risks — from environmental impact to management ethics;
  • Access to international financing, including “green” investments;
  • A first step toward compliance with export requirements of the EU, UAE, China, and other countries.
