Corporate training was held in the city of Temirtau, Karaganda Region, for the management of ArcelorMittal Temirtau — the largest mining and metallurgical complex in Kazakhstan.
The training was led by Yulia Yakupbayeva, Partner at the GPI Group of Companies, who served as both lecturer and facilitator.
On the ArcelorMittal Temirtau side, 25 people took part in the training, including heads of both administrative and production divisions, as well as the plant’s General Director, Vladimir Ivanovich Yablonsky.

The event consisted of two parts: an educational lecture and the ESG Game, a proprietary tool developed by GPI Lab.
During the lecture, participants studied the international and Kazakhstani ESG agenda, the regulatory framework for the transition to carbon neutrality and “green” projects, specific directions for industrial ESG strategies, ESG risk management, the basics of non-financial reporting, obtaining ESG ratings, and more.
In the practical portion, specific case studies of leading companies in the mining and metallurgical sector were examined, and best practices for implementing ESG principles at these companies were discussed.

The ESG Game, used as a business simulation to reinforce the theoretical material, generated great enthusiasm and interest among the plant’s employees. Participants noted that playing the game made it much clearer exactly what advantages and benefits come from implementing sustainable development principles, what practical measures and mechanisms could be applied in their industry, and how an enterprise’s ESG strategy ultimately takes shape.
An important feature of the training is its flexibility and client-focused design. GPI’s ESG training is tailored to the specific characteristics of each enterprise or company, taking into account its field of activity, markets and regions of operation, level of organizational maturity, and the audience’s level of preparedness, while incorporating best practices from similar companies both in Kazakhstan and around the world.
