The meeting took place in an online format, where 19 co-founders of the national ESG club gathered to discuss the strategic issues of platform development. The meeting was moderated by Julia Yakupbayeva, partner of GPI group.

Aidar Kazybayev, General director of AIFC Green Finance Center, was collegiately elected as club chairmen.

“I thank you for your trust, and I am confident that we will be able to effectuate a large number of projects and programs in a year. The club will create expert groups in the areas initiated by the club’s members, which will promote ESG directions and solve current issues faced by businesses,” said Aidar Kazybayev. 

By the initiative of the co-founders following subcommittees of the club were created:

1. Promotion of the ESG practices (PR);
2. Implementation and assessment of ESG practices;
3. Education in ESG dimension;
4. Urbanism, green standards, and ESG – for regions;
5. Implementation of the carbon control system;
6. Development of state support measures;

GPI group company initiated the creation of urbanism, the development of green standards, and the “ESG-regions” subcommittee.

“We initiated urbanism, green standards, and ESG- for regions direction. As the outcomes of the work of the subcommittee, we plan to develop and promote: 

• Green construction standards;
•  System and ratings of “smart home”;
• Hospitality, commercial real estate, and logistics standards (green key, green office,  green warehouse, etc.);
• Sustainable development of cities and territories;
• Trends in urban planning and creating a comfortable environment,” – mentioned Julia Yakupbayeva while inviting companies to cooperate. 

Today, we feel a great interest in the club from the side of businesses. We want to congratulate “Kazpost” JSC, “NC” “QazaqGaz” JSC, “Association of Renewable Energy of Kazakhstan” ALE, and “KazWaste” ALE on joining the ESG club.
